The Green Hornet

Yeah... Good afternoon peeps and a Happy Chinese New Year... So, after almost a month since my last blog entry... So, here goes... Coincidentally it has also been almost a month since I went to the 3-D Hall to watch a movie... And so, my first movie of the year... The Green Hornet... 3-D...

The Green Hornet was always on top of my list for movies to watch in 2011... That dream was almost outdone until last night when The High Priest Chubby, Okit & Me spontaneously went to the cinema to watch it... Yeah, spontaneous but more on that later because this is a movie review entry... Duhh...

So, The Green Hornet... Cool name and makes one wonder what kind of superpower this guy have... Well, he has none... Even Kato has none too... Which makes it a rival to The Dark Knight... (Yeah right)... Anyway, The Green Hornet stars Seth Rogen in the title role a.k.a Britt Reid, a newspaper mogul... And Jay Chou as Kato... The ass-kicking sidekick... The movie has everything a hero has... A mask... (Well, honestly speaking, its like a normal mask like in a masquerade party)... A cool car... (Tons of gadgets than the Batmobile)... And most important of all... The attitude... (The Hornet has heart but not the ability, while his sidekick has cool fight moves)....

Now I don't want to draw comparisons between Jay Chou as Kato and the late Bruce Lee as Kato in the late 1960's TV series... Anyway they both kick-ass but we all know Bruce Lee is really a legend of fighting... Jay Chou does well in this role with a touch of humor especially with his expressionless face... Seth Rogen was okay as the title character... Solid and decent acting by both if not spectacular... Cameron Diaz as Lenore didn't receive as much exposure in this film.. Perhaps in the sequel she'll play an even bigger role... After all, she is the mastermind behind the Green Hornet's actions...

As for the plot... Its pretty much straightforward... With nothing overly complicated... Keeps it simple... It has a simple storyline actually but the action sequences keeps it going... As for the humor in this movie... Well, to be honest, only a little are funny and necessary... The other jokes was just badly timed I suppose... So, need to work on that fellas...

So, overall... Being a fan of action movies, I give the action 4 and half stars... Humor 3 stars... Plot 4 stars... Cast 4 stars... 3-D... Not recommended... But you can watch it in 3-D if you like... Lots of improvement can be made... And I'm hoping for a better sequel... Which I think they will deliver... It has all the makings of a great movie... But for the first one, it provides a solid platform for which to build upon for future sequels... Nice action movie... Suitable for all...

For now, The Green Hornet... 4 stars....

Kick : Okay, so, its been a while since Point Man posted an entry... Because of some busy schedules and some stuff that needs the Point Man's attention... First movie for the New Year...
And again.. This review is from the Point Man's point of view.. Its a free country... Point man has the right to free speech right.. Haha.. Anyway.. Point Man has indeed watched a lot of movies since the start of 2011, but this is the first time he watched a movie at the cinema this year... Besides, Point Man wants to make it clear here... If he's going to watch a movie at the cinema,, It must be in 3-D... Or a good Malay film... Don't want to waste money unnecesarily... Haha... Can;t wait for upcoming movies... Later peeps for the next entry... Coming up next...

Double Post? No, Make It Triple...

Double post coming later in the day... Including this one... That makes it triple.. Stay tuned peeps.. I know its been a while... Happy Chinese New Year...
